Private 6–6.5 Hour Walk and Taste in Athens Tour

Your private air-conditioned vehicle will pick you up at the port of Piraeus and transfer you to the city center, passing parts of Piraeus such as Kastela and Mikrolimano ports, as well as an Olympic venue from the 2004 Games. Arrive at Syntagma Square to meet your licensed guide and begin your walking tour.
Start with a taste of Greece at one of Athens’ oldest bakeries with a fresh tyropita (cheese pie), followed by a visit to the Monument of the Unknown Soldier to watch the guards in their traditional uniforms and possibly the changing of the guards.
Walk through the National Garden, tasting koulouri (sesame bread rings) and a traditional Greek coffee. Continue to the Zappion Mansion, built for the 1896 Olympics, and then visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus, using a combined ticket to skip museum lines. Pass the Arch of Hadrian and stop for a taste of Greek yogurt with honey or homemade fruit syrup.
Proceed past the impressive New Acropolis Museum before ascending the Acropolis hill (156 meters / ~600 feet). Walk along the ancient marble paths, imagining Athens’ Golden Age under Pericles, while your guide explains the significance of Filopappos Hill, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Theatre of Dionysus, Pnyx Hill, and Areopagus Hill. Stop before the Propylaea for views of the Temple of Wingless Nike and the Ancient Agora, then continue to the Parthenon and Erechtheion.
After descending the Acropolis, enjoy free time to explore Plaka and Anafiotika streets, take photos of rooftops, and admire views of Lycabettus Hill. Walk past the Ancient Agora to Monastiraki, where you can taste gyros and pita at one of Athens’ oldest restaurants. Your private vehicle will pick you up from Monastiraki to return to the cruise ship.
